On March 5, 2026, SNG students took part in a tea ceremony experience.

The event was held at Eishoji Temple, known as the birthplace of Kodokan Judo. Its quiet and atmospheric grounds provided a setting well suited to experiencing traditional Japanese culture.

During the session, the students were divided into two groups. They took turns playing the roles of guests and tea preparers in the mizuya, experiencing the different procedures of the tea ceremony firsthand. Although they were sometimes unsure of the unfamiliar movements, it was striking to see how carefully they tried to follow each step and show proper respect for the etiquette.

The students were also captivated by the beauty of the traditional sweets prepared by the teachers. Their delicate appearance led many students to remark that they felt it was almost too beautiful to eat. As they served tea to one another, some enjoyed it so much that they asked for another cup, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
After the tea gathering, the students had the opportunity to look around the tea room and admire the distinctive beauty of traditional Japanese architecture. The temple hall they visited afterward was also magnificent, and the students listened attentively to the explanations.

It was a rewarding experience that allowed them to appreciate Japanese culture with all five senses.
