Our research institute was established in April 2017 with the aim of creating a society where people in various situations can live together without suffering from language use, communicate effectively with each other, and enjoy a rich cultural life. While it is important that everyone can freely use the language of their choice, as a specialist institution in Japanese language education, this institute will focus on research, survey, training programs, development of teaching materials, and learning support for the development of Japanese language education.
The parent organization of this research institute, the Ezoe Gakuen Shinjuku Japanese Language Institute, was established in 1975. Since its inception, it has been conducting Japanese language education for foreigners and operating material development and Japanese language teacher training courses. The 'Ezoe Method' of teaching, developed by Principal Takahide Ezoe, which visualizes grammar using 'Jubako Cards', has been effectively used not only in teaching Japanese to foreigners but also in grammar education in elementary and junior high schools' 'national language' classes, as well as in deaf education.
The projects at this research institute will be undertaken with the following educational practices in mind.
